The 1979-1993 Ford Mustang is one of my favorite car's of all time. Known as the "Foxbody Mustang", the foxbody where I'm from has been Iconic since before I was born... (in 1993). At a young age I grew a liking to the 87-93 coupe (we'll call it notchback from here on out) version of this car with the newer front end and headlights, fuel injection 5.0 and slightly updated more 90's like interior. Anyways, I always wanted one of those, specifically a 1993 (my birth year) and to be honest, I WILL get one, one day. So let me explain how we ended up were we are now, with an old non fuel injected, non 5.0 non manual transmission car that's also a convertible with the wrong front end, etc etc etc. Here's how that happened, in 2011 I was searching craigslist trying to find a notchback Mustang, back then you'd message and call different people all day and maybe get one response. I was 18 years old and for the life of me could not find a 1993 5.0 fuel injected 5 speed notchback, I was also impatient... However little did I know that'd work in my benefit... somewhat...
Anyways, I came across a Black 1986 5.0 fuel injected 5 speed with a Hurst shifter and cool tail lights and a bright white top and near perfect white interior and it was just so cool even though it wasn't the exact car I wanted, it was badass. So I bought it in Hayward California for $2800. This introduced me to the 4 eyed Mustangs, which after purchasing the car and living with it for awhile it really grew on me. Also this being my first convertible, that really grew on me as well. I quickly did donuts and burnouts all around town and just fell in love with the car. I drove the car for a couple of years and went through a couple clutches and tons of tires and wheels and eventually I ran into some issues with the engine. Me being young and dumb at the time I quickly sold it "before the engine blew up" which didn't happen, it probably just needed a good tune up and some love but that was my young ignorance. I ended up selling the 86 for the same price $2800 that I purchased it for and regretted it almost instantly.
Some years go by, I become a more responsible adult with a job and I eventually move out of the East Bay in California and head not too far east to Reno, Nevada. After suffering a couple harsh winters in my 1995 Caprice Classic 9c1 and my 2008 trailblazer SS 1LE RWD, I come to conclusion that a RWD Muscle car does not work in places that have real weather. Unfortunately this is where My life took a even more responsible, but BAD turn. I ended up selling my Caprice, and trading in my Trailblazer SS for 2020 Subaru Forester. I know right? Very responsible and smart move, saved a lot of money on gas, had a warranty, was my first brand new car, it's AWD, hits all the nails on the head for what I needed, but not for what I wanted. The Subaru was just not cool, I made sure I got a black Forester and I tinted the windows out and threw a nice Rockford Fosgate subwoofer in there to help alleviate the uncool factor and I ended up owning that car for 2 years until May 2022, It treated me well with no issues and I even ended up trading it in for pretty much exactly what I originally purchased it for.
May 2022, I'm finally cool again!!!!! sort of, I trade in my Subaru Forester for a 2022 Model Y long Range, I'm Finally Fast again, well quick, actually very quick. and the car is great, one pedal driving is wild and super impressive, FSD is meh, the car is very quick and pretty good looking in my opinion, also the technology in the car is pretty damn badass. Anyways, The Tesla Model Y is great and I think I may try to always own a tesla to daily drive locally, it's not perfect for road trips or every scenario, but it is one of the best cars to own for local driving driving in my opinion and is also very safe. The Tesla is great and all, but something is still missing, a fire breathing manual transmission driven v8!
Fast forward to the very end of 2022, and I came across this 1983 Mustang GLX Convertible for a very good deal. and I just knew I had to have it, regardless of how well it was running I was going to get it as long as it wasn't rusted out or had frame damage from an accident I was going to get this car and make it a fire breathing gas drinking V8 and manual 6 speed car. And that's where we are at now, My goal is clear, LS3, 6 speed manual transmission, some random interior and stereo pieces to get the car more comfortable, some big disc brakes and 5 lug conversion and that's it for now. I don't care how ugly it looks on the outside compared to a 86 or a 93, I don't care that it's not a notchback. It is my car and It WILL be cool. I also am Hoping to get my 5 month old son into foxbody Mustangs by having this car and hopefully a notchback Mustang around him since a very early Age. Anyways that's my story, I will be updating this website with every part a purchase or obtain for this car and will be posting most of the build on my youtube MrNate69420.
